Massive Edits, and Question #5

I'm going through all the photos up on my website currently and revamping the entire thing...it needed some work. So that's the big project currently, and it's going as well as I could expect it to (despite the time it's taking).

Annnnd...here it is Question 5:

Would you rather have the ability to fly, or the ability to breathe underwater?

Can I have both?? I think flying would be cool because you could visit other places whenever you wanted...but breathing underwater, you could see the other half of the world that no one else could without the help of machines...but, breathing underwater doesn't make you any less appealing to sharks, so I think I'll go with flying.

My computer is a bitch...and Question #4

My computer just had a hissy fit because of a bunch of files I opened in PS3...but finally, after an hour, it's back to normal. **insert eye roll here**
Totally locked me out of everything...couldn't switch applications, or close files/windows to free up some ram...

Did give me some time to do a load of laundry, and clean up a bit...so I guess it could be taken as a positive.

Anywho...helped at a garage sale today, which was fun. And now I'm attempting to edit photos from my latest shoot up in the mountains. Figured I'd give my computer enough time to forgive me before I attempt it again though...she can be a bit moody.

There are exactly 110 days until christmas...and I'm trying really hard at this point not to whip out the christmas music. Who decided to make it a rule that we can only listen to the most amazing music ever for only 3 weeks out of the year?!? They should change that rule. Or maybe it's because too much of a good thing is bad?? Every time I walk into my closet, I see my lonely little christmas tree, sitting in the corner...undecorated and sad. I can't wait for christmas to be here.

So...Question #4:
If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you pick and why?

Sorry to be unoriginal and dull...but I'd have to stick with the good ol' dog. I don't think there's a more friendly or loyal species on earth. All they want to do is be with you, and share their love with you. Amazing creatures.

I don't know what I would do without my dog. :) She's amazing.

I skipped a day already (slacker) and Guanella Pass

Number one...I don't think I've laughed so much in one day in a long time...all because I drove my tiny ass car up this pass in the middle of the mountains to shoot pictures for class. Dirt roads are WAY too much fun. The road was uber bumpy with potholes up the wazoo, but it was SO much fun. That was pretty much all I did today...it was a long trip. Cool thing was that the weather was super shitty down here, but I drove through a GIANT cloud, and it was sunny and amazing on the other side. Only in Colorado.

In an attempt to repair my slacker-ish ways, I'll answer 2 questions...

If you could ask God one question and get a guaranteed question, what would you ask?

This one would be difficult...seeing as I don't really believe in God, but let's just pretend for a second that I did, because for all I know he could (who am I to say??) I think I would ask him if he ever goes out for coffee with Satan (somehow they seem to peacefully coexist with one another.) But can this be a multi-part question...like, if so, do you go to starbucks, or support local coffee shops...and what do you talk about, what do you order, and what does he order...do you sit on the couches, or in the chairs at a table?? The list could go on.

I don't really think I would want to know why hatred, judgment, or cruelty were created, or why wars to rage all over the world, or even the meaning of life...some things are best left unanswered.

Annnnd... moving on.

Would you rather be deaf, blind, or mute?

To start, this is the first time I've ever seen mute included in the equation, and it makes the choice very obvious for me. I love music way too much to be deaf. In fact, I'm one of the few people who ever answer that they would rather be blind when those are the only two options. Sound is capable of amazing things. I love my vision also. It drives my creativity, and without it, I wouldn't be able to continue in my chosen profession, which requires not only scientific vision, but creative vision as well. So my answer would be mute. I could survive without talking. So much is said with facial expressions, and just the eyes alone. And I've always loved writing...

The End Is Near, and Question of the Day...

Finals are 2 weeks away *gasp* and this quarter has gone by faster than any of the others...I can see the finish line, I just wish I wasn't moving so fast towards it.

I'm pretty sure my room is having hot flashes...thank god for ceiling fans.

Found this interesting website that has a new thought provoking question every day...so I think I'll run with that for a while, see where it takes me.

Question of the Day: If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Honestly, a really hard question for me to answer because I love movies WAY too much. But I really think I would go with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation...it's just way too funny to never see again.

In actuality though, I don't think I could do it...I would go mad without my movie collection, and not being able to see a new movie every Friday. Really, I think I should get some sort of award for loyalty to Hollywood for all the money that I've spent on Fridays at the movie theater.

I <3 Movies. :)

Wii Boxing...and Camera Bags

just might be the greatest thing ever invented...crazy arm workout while making you look like a complete idiot?? Sounds good to me.

Anywho, that's my latest bit of fun.

In other news...my boredom and my quest to find the perfect camera bag have collided, and I'm trying to design one of my own...don't really know how that will go, but hey. It could be cool. I'm doing a bit of polling among my photographer friends as to what they want most out of a photo bag...I've got a lot of people who say that size matters (that's what she said)...and quite a few in the durability department too. So I'll see what kind of response I have tomorrow, and work from there.

I'd need a cool name/logo to go with them too...so I've got to get the creative juices flowing. :D

Should probably get to bed...it's been a super long day. *shrug*

Thought Provoked...

My friend June posted a note about the "worth" of people that really got me thinking.

Here's a bit of what she said... "I was thinking this afternoon about the value of people. How I strongly believe or would like to think that I believe that every persons story, every persons voice, experiences, thoughts, and beliefs are of some value. That everyone is precious and worth nurturing and loving. This got me thinking more and more. Is everyone on earth worthwhile whether a person believes that or not? If so why? Why do I believe that people and every persons life is of value."

And here is my reply...not all of it really follows what she was going with, but tangents are always fun...

I personally believe that everyone has value. But I do believe that too many people are so self absorbed and busy going about their own lives to hear the thoughts, stories and beliefs of others. Too much of it just gets lost in the static. I guess I think of it in different terms that death or suicide, I think of it more as an issue with the human condition, and how we've learned to live our lives.

I see it as 99% of the people I know would rather buy a new 52' Plasma HDTV than send it to Africa to help people who live in huts made out of mud and dig through trash for food. If people and businesses stopped to think about the fact that not everything is about making money, and it's not about driving that 85 thousand dollar car, or living in that multi-million dollar home... and I understand that everyone falls victim to the need to accumulate useless shit, it's just how we are "trained" how to behave. Too many times we forget the value of the people around us, and the information, beliefs and stories that they have.

I know my younger siblings would rather stay inside and watch cartoons than interact with another human being outside in the sun. Many people would rather sit on a comfy couch and surf the net than go outside and socialize face to face with the people who live only 10 feet away. THAT'S the point when the worth is lost. People are stuck in their own stories and beliefs, and they miss everyone else's.

People would rather ignore the problems that we as a WORLD face. It's become too much of a "why should I care" mentality. I think people should care because that person barely making it day to day halfway across the world should have the basic right to be heard and respected, and taken care of...just as much as someone who makes millions a year should have the same rights. I just think it should be the obvious choice to want to help people, but it's the competitive nature of humans mixed with greed that makes it so hard.

For instance...would people really need an iPod that holds 20,000 songs if everyone came together to talk and listen to each other and all of the stories that go on in each person's life? No. Would you really need to be inside watching re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond if people got together as a community to socialize every day? No. Technology has decreased the wealth of the individual. By connecting us all, it has separated us from each other far more than we could have imagined.

Randy Pausch...and 20!

I just found out that Randy Pausch, the famous professor from his youtube video "the last lecture" (below) died today. From what I've seen, he was an extremely inspirational person. One of few people I've ever seen who really knew what it was all about.

In other news...yesterday was my 20th *gasp*. Odd feeling being 20. Sister's birthday was today (11). We went to the aquarium for my birthday and ate at Wazee St. Supper Club. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G pizza.

John and Steve's PSA...

Don't really know why...but this is hilarious. I love how he can joke and keep a totally serious face the entire time...and Steve's laugh is beyond funny.

Zone tomorrow...went out and shot today...messed up and only shot 4 sheets instead of 5, but hopefully it'll be ok.

Cave of the Winds...and The Amber Spyglass

Went to cave of the winds with the sibs today. Still just as cool as it was when I was 9. They didn't want to go when I told them where we were going, but after the tour started, they thought that cave was the coolest thing since elastic underwear. They got a kick out of the "cave bacon" aka: ribbon stalactites, and the coral thingamajigs were pretty darn cool too. Next time we just need to take the lantern tour up into the grand cavern...it sounded pretty cool, but it was sold out.

And to end my rant about the Golden Compass quite a few months back...I'm on the last 20 pages of the final book in the trilogy... The Amber Spyglass...and, for all you die hard christians out there who think that the children in the book conspire to "kill god" they didn't. They found "the authority" helpless on a hill being attacked, and tried to help him get away safely...but he was so old, that he fell apart in the wind. So there was no killing of god at all...just a little fyi. I'll step off the soapbox for now.

Pretty damn good books they were...kept me interested throughout the entire story. And yes, I'll admit there are a few comments in the book that if you choose to take them so, can be anti religious, but only if you choose to interpret them that way. So all in all, good read.

Class on tuesday, gotta get all my reading done before then.

Peace.
